Without any second thought, we all can agree upon how crucial an efficient digestive system is and how important it is for our overall well-being. Apart from this, discomfort caused by disrupted digestion can affect our routine activities. Whether it’s about nausea or stomach cramps, nothing seems right with it. Especially, if it’s appendicitis or gallbladder pain it can be even worse. In this blog, we will discuss 5 herbal remedies to treat gallstones.

I’ve gone through a similar experience when I suffered from this searing pain in my stomach and chest. But over time I became habitual of this, and for years I relied upon the vague instructions of my general physician. After a few months, I went to a renowned hepatologist in Islamabad after my problem grew severe. I was diagnosed with gallstones and it was the beginning of this life-altering experience.

Based on my own experience, I’m going to provide a few home treatments for gallstones. But before this, let’s know about the gall stones.

What are gallstones?

Gallstones are small solid particles of variable sizes that are formed in the gallbladder. The gallbladder is an important component of your digestive system that stores the bile formed by the liver. Bile is responsible for the digestion of fats in our body as well as for the absorption of certain vitamins in our body.

The presence of stones interrupts the supply of bile ultimately affecting fats metabolism and causing deficiency of certain vitamins. Gallstones can be cholesterol stones (made up of cholesterol) or can be pigmented stones (formed by bilirubin or calcium salts).

Gallstones treatment

When it comes to the treatment, the most common solution of gallstones is the surgical removal of gall (as the stones are recurring). My doctor at bee well hospital also suggested that I should go for gall removal but I didn’t agree.

Instead of surgery, I went for home remedies to treat my problem, and here I’m going to share some of those solutions with you. So, if you are hunting for home remedies to treat gallstones, I suggest you read the following article.

Herbal solutions for gallstones problem

1- Gallbladder cleanser

One of the effective solutions to treat gallstones naturally is the gall cleanser. Gall cleanser is the solution that can break these stones naturally and can flush them out of our body. A gall cleanser is a blend of apple juice, herbs, and olive oil that can be taken for 2-5 days. However, this is not a science-backed treatment and people having diabetes should consult their doctor before consuming it.

2- Black radish juice

Black radish is a plant root that can be used to both prevent and treat gallstones. This juice can stop the accumulation of fat in bile and also decrease fat deposition in the liver. You can take 3 black radishes and blend them in a glass of water and consume it with or without honey.

3- Dandelion tea

Dandelion isn’t new especially when it comes to digestive problems. It not only aids in the digestion of fat but is also a diuretic (to increase urination). Besides this, dandelion tea is also an effective solution to treat gallstones. You can take 10-15 grams of dandelion leaves and add them to 250 ml of boiling water. After leaving it for 10 minutes, strain it and your dandelion tea is ready.

4- Peppermint oil

Peppermint oil is also an effective method to treat gallstones but you need to essentially consume peppermint tea to avail yourself benefits of peppermint oil. For peppermint tea, you can take 10-15 gram of peppermint leaves and leave them for 10 minutes in 250 ml of boiling water and can consume it.

5- Turmeric

The benefits of turmeric for the skin are not new to anyone but do you know that turmeric can also be used to treat gallstones. You can consume turmeric in the form of a capsule or in any way you like to reduce gall inflammation.

Takeaway Note!

Gall bladders stones can be quite painful and can disrupt our daily life activities to a greater extent. Gall bladder problems can be treated either by surgery or using home remedies. All of these above-mentioned remedies are fairly helpful in treating gallstones. However, before deciding on any one among these, you can consult your physician on the safe side.
